Version 6: 2017/2018

The USB flash drive is packed with navigation data for 18 countries in Africa and the Middle East, with major and minor roads, towns, villages and plenty of points of interest:
Bahrain, Botswana, Egypt, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, La Réunion, Lebanon, Lesotho, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Swaziland and the United Arab Emirates.

Eight countries already have 100% coverage: Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates already have 100% coverage. Over 2.9 million kilometres of road are covered by the navigation data in the 2017/2018 version. The 2017/2018 version features 8,521 towns and communities.

Points of Interest (POI):
Almost 1,509,000 key points of interest are featured on the USB flash drive, including filling stations, car parks, museums, restaurants and hospitals. There are around 173,997 more POIs here than on the previous version. If required, the navigation system will also show the user the quickest route to 114 Mercedes-Benz service outlets. Some 7,763 restaurants and 3,514 nightlife destinations have been added to the new 2017/2018 version

Dynamic route guidance based on the latest traffic data (TMC/RDS):
Using the data from the Traffic Message Channel, the navigation system takes into account the latest motorway traffic bulletins and automatically calculates diversions. This convenient service is now available in South Africa.

Road network updates:
Map updates include millions of changes, e.g. new roads, crossroads, bypasses, junctions and motorway slip roads and exits. One section of road may feature up to 260 attributes, such as the number of lanes or one-way routing. All of these attributes and the vast number of points of interest have to be updated constantly. In this new version, for example, over 16,733 roundabouts, 23,965 turning restrictions, 56,729 one-way streets and 270,646 street names have been updated. In addition, over 193,431 kilometres of road have been updated, including approx. 2,557 sections of motorway and dual carriageway.

This navigation update for NTG5 is copy-protected for COMAND Online. To import up-to-date map data, a six-digit activation code is required in addition to the USB flash drive. Each activation code represents a licence to use the map data in a single vehicle and is exclusively valid for a specific combination of vehicle, COMAND Online and map version.
Navigation updates can be purchased via the same channels as to date; the required vehicle-specific activation codes are available via the VeDoc system.
The newly acquired licence is documented in VeDoc at the time of purchase. A charge is made for the activation code, but it can be re-requested free of charge in VeDoc in the event of a replacement. Verison 5: 2016/2017

This is the 2016/2017 map update USB stick for NTG5 COMAND systems in W205 C class, X253 GLC, Latest AMG-GT, S class and the latest Vito, for Africa and Middle East You will need a vehicle / map specific PIN number as-well in order to use this which is additional cost. This is special order item and will take a few days to arrive. Note that if your car is an early car in the range and the COMAND has not had firmware update, it may need the firmware updated by Mercedes Benz to install the latest maps. Firmware should be updated as part of routine servicing by Mercedes Benz within the warranty period and thus this should not be a problem. Almost 871,000 key points of interest are featured on the USB stick, including filling stations, car parks, museums, restaurants and hospitals. 97,971 restaurants and 9556 hotels are included in this 2014 navigation update. If required, the navigation system will also show the user the quickest route to 85 Mercedes-Benz service partners.
