This is an iPod and Phone kit for the newer MOST based cars. This includes Mercedes NTG1/NTG2 systems, Audi MMI-2 High & Basic, BMW Text capable E87, E90, E91, E92, E93, E60/61, E63/E64, E65/E66 (03/2005-) & E70, Porsche (PCM I/II/2.1). We do not recommend this for Mercedes S/SL/CL vehicles. For some vehicles (including Mercedes) an optional DAB adapter can be added. Unlike the official Mercedes iPod kits, it supports control of the iPod, including track name display on the COMAND unit. This unit is particularly suitable if your car has COMAND (colour sat nav system) or if you want to retain the use of an existing CD changer as it has a 2nd MOST fibre optic port to connect the CD changer to (and a switch to switch between when the vehicle is off). If you do not wish to do that or your car has Audio 20 or Audio-50-APS you should consider the GW500 LITE for MOST based vehicles if you do not need Telephone functions. It pretends to be a CD changer (so if you have a CD changer you can switch between, but you have to turn off/on the car normally). Be aware that the Mercedes Audio-20 and Audio-50-APS are not CD text capable, so you have some degree of control but if you want to see track names access playlists etc you can do that via the iPod itself whilst connected to the GW500. It has iPod connector, USB connector and Aux audio connector for you to connect an various different accessories (one at a time) and to update the software in the device should further enhancements be made. Takes under an hour to install. You will need a selection of TORX bits and the installation looks best if you can make a 20mm hole in the glovebox for the wiring grommet. Please note that you can turn of the Bluetooth phone functions of the device, whilst retaining Bluetooth Audio streaming functions.
