Mercedes iPod solutions

Mercedes Benz offers 3 different iPod integration solution depening on your vehicle model and age.

The standard type iPod kit enables control of the iPod via steering wheel controls and the instrument cluster display. This is available for most models after mid 2004. No track information or control is available from the audio system controls, everything is controlled via the steering wheel controls.

The UMI for W204 (new C class) with Audio-20. This is an iPod interface, USB interface and will even accept bluetooth streaming audio. It also adds a navigation system to your new C class. (not the CLC). iPod control is via the stereo system. This only works with the Audio-20 system not the colour navigation COMAND-APS system. The standard type iPod kit will also work in the W204 with Audio-20.

The UCI (often called the Media Interface, not to be confused with the UMI for W204) - this is (currently) a factory fit option (option 518) only introduced for the W204 with COMAND or Audio-50-APS and the Model Year 2009 vehicles (which have the bluetooth telephony included in the head unit). Full control of the iPod is done from the Audio system, and we hope to have a UCI retrofit for W212/W207 vehicles aswell shortly. Standard iPod kits are also available for W204 and Model Year 2009 onward vehicles.
